The double Mask generates a lot of noise.

It is important that the air gap between the inner and outer mask is not compressed. Hold the mask loosely and comfortably with three fingertips: the thumb, index finger, and middle finger. Imagine a vacuum cleaner nozzle where a piece of paper gets sucked up and lays across the opening, causing noise to occur. The same principle applies when the mask is pressed against the patient and the gap is squeezed together. Additionally, the suction ability will be reduced.

My hands get cold when I am anesthetizing the patient.

It is important that the mask is held in the correct way to minimize noise and cold hands. The mask is placed over the patient’s nose and mouth, and the hoses may be placed in a hose holder, which allows the mask to essentially stay in place by itself. Use three fingertips—thumb, index finger, and middle finger—to loosely hold the mask in the correct position over the nose and mouth. The remaining fingers are used to lift the chin for an open airway. Any leakage around the mask is handled by the Double Mask’s suction system.

How should the Double Mask be cleaned and how often?

The Double Mask should be cleaned between each patient. Follow the instructions in the Double Mask manual.

Is it possible to replace components in the Double Mask?
